Where Are Services Provided?
Services will be provided in your child’s natural environment, places where the children typically spend their day. Services can be at your home, the neighborhood library, playground, and daycare. If services are provided at daycare, families are responsible for the typical daycare tuition. However, the Early intervention services are free for families.
What We Do
Play is a major component of Early Intervention for infants and toddlers. Teachers use routine-based interventions: activities and routines which are familiar to the family to develop speech and language, cognitive development, playskills, self-help skills, social-emotional development, and physical development. The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a public program for children under the age of three who are either suspected of having, or are at risk for, developmental delays or disabilities. Potentially eligible children must be referred to the county program to receive EIP services. EIP is funded by New York State and municipalities. All EIP services are provided at no cost to parents. Health insurance may be used for approved services. A child’s eligibility for the program can be determined only by state-approved evaluators under contract, and all services must be authorized by the county.
